Last Friday is really happening.

We’ve covered the rumors over the last couple of years, like when Ice Cube told Flavor Flav that the fourth installment of the beloved film franchise “finally got some traction with Warner Bros.” back in 2024 and when Mike Epps told The Breakfast Club last year that he had recently gotten word that a deal was in place. Now it looks like the ink is dry and it’s finally happening.

Cube and Epps sat down with Entertainment Tonight to confirm the news and exclusively told the outlet that Last Friday will deal with the gentrification of their neighborhood. And when asked if Chris Tucker would return as Smokey, the role that made him a star, the pair seemed optimistic.

“We’re talking to him and he wants to come back,” Epps said, with Cube adding, “He’s one of the best. I think he’s going to do it.”

Cube previously told Cam Newton about a rejected script idea where Craig and Day-Day were owners of a dispensary who suddenly found themselves in jail. “I wrote a script where Craig and Day-Day, they had a dispensary. They had a flash mob in there and they caught one of the kids and beat his little a–, and they end up going to jail,” he began. “So they in jail duckin’ Deebo, they in jail duckin’ Damon, they in jail duckin’ the Joker brothers. And then they get into a rehab — and I was trying to get Chris [Tucker] back — Smokey was running the rehab, but it was a bullsh– rehab where he was taking everybody’s weed and smoking it in the basement.”

However, studio executives weren’t too fond of the idea and were worried about jail not being funny. “They were like, ‘Jail’s not funny, it’s too much time in jail. How can you make jail funny?’ And I’m like, ‘Man, y’all don’t know what the f— y’all talking about,’” he said. “Then they come out with Orange Is the New BlackLet’s Go to Prison — all these movies about that. And I’m like, ‘See, more Hollywood execs don’t know what the f— they talking about.’”

Shooting is set to start later this year, but in the meantime, you can check out The Everyday’s Friday: Lyrics, Lougin’ and Laughing show in Long Beach, California, on July 17 (a Friday, of course) to celebrate Friday’s 30th anniversary.

You can watch the clip below.

We’re gonna miss him when he’s gone. Well, except for one particular perennially online resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., anyway.

After 11 years and nearly 1,800 episodes, Stephen Colbert is winding down his run on The Late Show on May 21. The CBS late-night show has been a frequent target of ire for President Trump over his two terms in office, with Colbert relentlessly skewering the man he’s dubbed “Tangerine Palpatine” and Mar-a-Lardo” in his nightly monologues.

Related

And while Trump and the FCC have not threatened Colbert in the same way they’ve attacked fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, in July 2025, CBS confirmed it was ending the franchise Colbert took over from David Letterman — who ended his run on May 20, 2015 — due to what it claimed were “financial constraints” and declining ad revenue.

Colbert has had plenty to say about why he thinks the beloved show is really ending, hardly holding his fire about his contempt and distaste for the Trump administration’s actions to restrain criticism of his administration, in much the same way he held previous presidents’ feet to the fire. OK, maybe a bit more, but can you blame him?

One of the things fans will miss the most is Colbert’s thoughtful, engaged interviews with his guests, from his deep geek-out sessions with most frequent guest astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, to last August’s toe-to-toe with Josh Brolin during an impromptu back-and-forth recitation from act 3 of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.

We’ll also miss his team’s razor-sharp song parodies of the day’s headlines, short, pithy bits that often opened the show, setting the stage for finely tuned monologues filled with cutting wit and comedic bull’s-eyes of contempt. And while we’re at it, we threw in a few original tunes from the team that are just so perfectly perfect.

So, in honor of the last hurrah, we’ve gathered 11 of our favorite song parodies and loving tributes, from the anti-anti-immigration ditty “ICE ICE Baby” to the absolute papal banger “They Not Pious” and, of course, the Lord of the Rings tribute “Number One Triller.”

Check them out.

With a line like this coming out of Will Ferrell and Paul McCartney‘s mouths, the Saturday Night Live cast almost didn’t stand a chance.

On Saturday night (May 16), SNL musical guest McCartney put his comedic timing to the test starring as an auto mechanic alongside body shop co-workers Will Ferrell and Marcello Hernández in the live sketch “Mechanics.” The three are a trio of guys telling a primed to be taken advantage of couple (Mikey Day, Ashley Padilla) what’s allegedly wrong with their car during what was supposed to just be a routine oil change.

“And now… WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TALKING TO A MECHANIC,” an opening slate says onscreen ahead of Ferrell leading the way, speaking words that pass right through the blank stares of Day and Padilla — some nonsense that somehow involves a “dong rod gasket” that’s Swiss cheese, Apple Bottom jeans with the boots with the fur (that’s a Flo Rida reference, folks) and a shot “sprog box.”

Hernández hops in with support here, scratching oil off his hands on his backside before offering a handshake, a frantic description of what he saw under the hood en español, and awfully sexual sounds that are supposedly similar to the concerning noises he heard the car emit.

They recommend getting it fixed immediately and coming back every six days. Or just replacing all the parts. “Your oil is fine,” Ferrell assures them. “We keep the oil. We rebuild everything around it.”

When the cost of this all sounds a bit much, chief mechanic Nigel (McCartney) walks in to confirm the diagnosis and give them a payment plan option.

“Listen, your tipsy-whipsies are all dangly-doodly, and the spriggly-wiggly’s gone crumpet,” McCartney says, letting loose a high-pitched squeal and pointing out, “Plus, the steering wheel’s on the wrong bloody side.”

The room mostly keeps a straight face up until Ferrell and McCartney each calmly explain the one way out of this unexpected debt: “You can pay in ass.”

Watch SNL‘s “Mechanics” to see how it all plays out below. McCartney also appeared in Ferrell’s monologue and performed three songs on Saturday during his fifth time as musical guest on the late-night sketch comedy show.

After two weeks trailing The Devil Wears Prada 2, the Michael Jackson biopic Michael reclaimed the No. 1 spot at the North American box office with $26.1 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday (May 17).

The Lionsgate movie is in rarefied territory, having brought in $703.9 million worldwide and counting. It still has a way to go to surpass the current reigning champion of musical biopics: Bohemian Rhapsody. The Queen movie grossed over $910.8 million worldwide.

There were also several newcomers in the mix this weekend, including the relationship horror movie Obsession, the Guy Ritchie action pic In the Grey and the revenge saga Is God Is, but the holdovers continued to draw the largest crowds. The power dynamics are poised to shift when Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters next weekend.

Disney and 20th Century Studios’ The Devil Wears Prada 2 took second place in its third weekend with $18 million, bringing its domestic total to $175.9 million and worldwide earnings to $546.2 million.

Obsession topped the newcomers, exceeding expectations with an estimated $16.1 million from 2,615 theaters. YouTube breakout Curry Barker wrote and directed the thriller in which a hopeless romantic gets more than he bargained for when his crush returns his affections. The film received positive reviews from both critics (94% on Rotten Tomatoes) and audiences (A- CinemaScore). Perhaps more notable is that Barker made the film for $750,000. Focus Features acquired it out of the Toronto International Film Festival last fall for around $15 million.

Lisa Bunnell, president of domestic distribution for Focus Features, attributed some of Obsession’s success to audiences craving fresh, original voices at the movies. It’s also getting an infusion by word-of-mouth, with younger audiences making plans to go back with friends. Horror movies don’t often get CinemaScores in the A- range, but Obsession is in good company with another recent hit: Weapons.

“I’m expecting a really strong holdover,” Bunnell said.

Fourth place at the box office this weekend went to Mortal Kombat II, which fell 65% in its second weekend to $13.4 million in domestic ticket sales. Globally, it has made $101.2 million from 80 markets.

Amazon MGM Studios had three movies in the top 10, including The Sheep Detectives in fifth place, Project Hail Mary in seventh place and Is God Is rounding out the top 10.

The Sheep Detectives enjoyed a slim 33% drop from its first weekend, taking in an additional $10.2 million and bringing its running total to $30.5 million. Project Hail Mary, which is now available to rent or buy at home, brought in another $3.4 million in its ninth weekend in theaters. Is God Is, Aleshea Harris’s adaptation of her Obie-winning play about twin sisters (Kara Young and Mallori Johnson) on a quest to find and kill their abusive father made $2.2 million in its first weekend in theaters. It has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Meanwhile, the action caper In the Grey, released by Black Bear, made $3 million from 2,018 locations. Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza González star in the film about a team of elite operatives on an impossible mission. It currently carries a 44% on Rotten Tomatoes and a B CinemaScore.

There were also several high-profile re-releases in theaters this weekend, including Top Gun, which made $3.1 million, and Shrek, which earned $1.3 million.

Paul Dergarabedian, head of marketplace trends for Comscore, noted that Prada, Michael and Top Gun all making the top 10 show “nostalgia is on full display.”

“What’s old is new again and audiences clearly love it,” he said.

Michael Jackson was a megastar for most of his life. Known as The King of Pop, the Grammy Award winner always seemed to find his way into the spotlight. However, he tended to lead a pretty private life, too, or as private as one can get. The “Leave Me Alone” singer rarely shared details about his family, children or personal life, utilizing that privacy as a necessary escape from it all when the camera flashes and tabloids got to be too much.

That is why the book Moonwalk: A Memoir is such a rare piece of music history. It is the only official autobiography from Michael Jackson, offering fans a glimpse into his world in his own words. The book is a great opportunity for new and old fans to dive deeper into his life.

Right now, it’s available on Amazon, retailing for $29 for a hardcover version and $14.99 for the Kindle edition, and at Barnes & Noble for $30 hardcover and $14.99 for an eBook option.

Michael Jackson’s ‘Moonwalk’ Is the King of Pop’s Only Autobiography: Here’s Where to Get the Book Online

‘Moonwalk: A Memoir’

by Michael Jackson

Jackson’s 1988 autobiography is currently a No. 1 bestseller on Amazon.

Moonwalk: A Memoir covers both the joyful and harder moments of Michael Jackson’s childhood, along with his time in the Jackson 5. The singer touches on his process and inspirations behind some of his biggest Billboard Hot 100 hits, including “Billie Jean,” “Beat It” and “Thriller.”

A section of the bestselling autobiography focuses solely on anecdotes on Jackson’s famous friends, including Diana Ross, Berry Gordy, Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Fred Astaire, Marlon Brando, Katharine Hepburn and others. Jackson also wrote candidly about the crushing isolation he felt in the spotlight, along with the ever-hot topic of plastic surgery and the “bizarre” rumors that swirled around him. While there are a number of unofficial tellings of Jackson’s life, this one comes straight from the source.

Meanwhile, Michael Jackson is experiencing a resurgence in pop culture, largely thanks to the film about his early years titled Michael. Since its release in late April, the record-breaking film became the second highest-grossing biopic of all time, beating out Elvis, which was directed by Baz Luhrmann. The movie brought in more than $600 million around the globe, according to Deadline, so far.

On the Billboard charts, Jackson had a triumphant homecoming. The singer’s landmark album Thriller returned to the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart dated May 16. This is the first time the album has reclaimed the spot in four decades.

Priced starting at $29, you can shop the 1988 autobiography Moonwalk: A Memoir on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

These days, Nick Cannon‘s name is pretty much synonymous with fathering a dozen kids. And now, the entertainer will further cement that reputation by starring in a new docuseries capturing how he juggles his unorthodox life as a dad that’s coming soon to Netflix.

The streamer announced Wednesday (May 13) that the project — the title of which is still under wraps — will arrive this winter, offering “an intimate look” at Cannon’s “wildly unconventional life, as he raises 12 children and co-parents with six different moms,” according to a description.

Related

“Prepare to meet the Cannon the world has yet to see: heartfelt, complicated, and genuinely committed to showing up for the people he loves — with his trademark comedy, of course,” it continues. “From million-dollar meetings to midnight diaper runs, the global entertainer navigates the complete chaos that can only come from his uniquely blended family, all while managing his booming career and headline-making drama.”

The Masked Singer host first became a dad in 2011, when he welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe with his superstar ex-wife, Mariah Carey. After separating from the Grammy winner in 2014, Cannon and podcaster Brittany Bell welcomed a son named Golden Sagon in 2017, followed by a daughter named Powerful Queen in 2020 and another son named Rise Messiah in 2022. He welcomed twins Zion and Zillion in 2021 with radio personality Abby De La Rosa, with whom he also shares 3-year-old daughter Beautiful Zeppelin. With Selling Sunset star Bre Tiesi, he shares 3-year-old son Legendary Love, and with LaNisha Cole, he welcomed daughter Onyx Ice in 2022.

Cannon is also Dad to a son with model Alyssa Scott named Zen, who died of brain cancer at just a few months old in 2021. The following year, he and Scott welcomed another child together, daughter Halo.

Because of the size of his brood, the Wild n’ Out comedian has endured his fair share of jokes at his expense over the past few years, both at the hands of friends in the industry and the general public. Though he’s always been a good sport about the teasing, Cannon has also always emphasized how much time and energy he puts into being a good father to all of his children, something he now gets to showcase in his Netflix series.

This past September, the Drumline star also acknowledged that his past trauma may have led to him pursuing a lifestyle that enabled him to have so many children. “It was more of being careless, being frivolous with my process, because I could do it, because I had the money, because I had the access to whoever and however I wanted to move,” he said on The Breakfast Club. “Opposed to doing a mature thing and saying, ‘Hey, well, it probably makes more sense to do this.’ And then, obviously, life happens as well. So it wasn’t like, ‘Well, I’m gonna go have 12 kids.’ It was more about, like, ‘Yo, I’mma just live life and have fun and whatever happens, happens, I can handle it.’”
