KPop Demon Hunters is finally getting a physical release.
Almost a year after it first debuted on Netflix, the hit animated musical is set for a Criterion Collection release on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. This marks the first time the film has been available for viewing outside of streaming, save for a brief theatrical run last summer and a second run of a “sing-along” version last fall.
NEW RELEASE
KPop Demon Hunters (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]
Amazon is showing a release date of Dec. 31 for the KPop Demon Hunters Criterion Collection disc, though it may just be a placeholder (the cover art seen at right is also not finalized). The release date has moved a few times according to the Amazon listing, and it’s likely Sony Pictures will want to have the Blu-ray and DVD out before the holidays for gifting season.
Not much is known about the upcoming physical release, though Criterion Collection editions usually include bonus content and some sort of upscaled audio and visual presentation. To wit: the Amazon listing includes a 4K version of the film on Blu-ray. And the writers of the film have teased a number of deleted scenes, including a sub-plot modeled on the “Idol Star Athletics Championships,” a competition event in Korea that features K-pop idols competing in sports and team challenges.
Past Criterion Collection editions, like the recently released Monty Python’s Life of Brian, have included everything from audio commentary from the cast and crew, to a “making of” documentary, and animated stills. As the distribution company states on its website, Criterion is dedicated to promoting a film “as its maker would want it seen, in state-of-the-art restorations” and with “special features designed to encourage repeated watching and deepen the viewer’s appreciation of the art of film.”
ALSO AVAILABLE
KPop Demon Hunters (The Criterion Collection) [DVD]
Pre-order KPop Demon Hunters on Blu-ray, DVD or 4K Ultra HD now on Amazon.com. Amazon’s pre-order price guarantee ensures that you’ll only be charged whatever the lowest price is between the time you order the film and the day it’s officially released.
Worth noting: Netflix films almost never get a physical release, let alone a Criterion Collection edition, so this is a big deal for fans and collectors alike. Already the most-viewed original title in Netflix history, KPop Demon Hunters, also took home two Oscars, for Best Animated Feature, and Best Original Song for the hit single, “Golden.”

Caleb Shomo is opening up about his personal life.
In an emotional Instagram post on Saturday (May 23), the frontman of rock/metalcore band Beartooth came out as gay.
“There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding my personal life as of late and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further,” Shomo wrote. “I am a proudly gay man.”
He continued, “This is something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now. It’s been difficult to navigate the feelings surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with this fact.”
Beartooth, which formed in 2012 and recently signed to Fearless Records, has scored two No. 1 albums on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums chart with 2018’s Disease and 2023’s The Surface.
The singer and multi-instrumentalist, 33, has been married to his wife, Fleur Shomo, for the past 14 years.
“I have always strived to chase who I am in the deepest part of my soul from album to album,” Caleb Shomo wrote. “As you could gather if you’ve followed the band at all in the earlier years, there are four very self-deprecating albums about exploring my religious upbringing, depression, self-hatred, self-loathing, and hopelessness. I am grateful for all these albums, yet feel embarrassed at times that I wouldn’t allow myself to really dig up the roots for so long.”
He added, “I spent a decade burying feelings with alcohol, and honestly, when I decided to put it down and focus on exploring why I felt this way for so long, it’s been a direct path to me reconciling with my sexuality in hopes that it will eventually lead me to experiencing self-love.”
Beartooth’s sixth album, Pure Ecstasy, is scheduled for release on Aug. 28 through Fearless.
“One thing I decided before I wrote a single note or lyric of the upcoming album is that whatever happens, I will express myself wholeheartedly and fully,” Shomo wrote. “Wherever it takes me I will follow and I refuse to water any part of it down, from the music, to the lyrical content, and way I portray myself. I will only do what makes me happy at the deepest level and what is the most honest depiction of who I am.”
Following his announcement, Shomo’s wife, Fleur, shared her own statement on Instagram, expressing support for him while also confirming that they are no longer together.
“I will always want to love, protect and support Caleb. I have cared more about his well-being over the years than anything else in the world,” Fleur Shomo wrote. “To see the confusion and pain he went through and the highs and lows and wanting to help but now knowing how. You never want anything more for your person than for them to just be ok.”
She added, “Our nearly 14 years of marriage was wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love. Nobody will know anything about our marriage like we do. And no one can ever truly know what depths of love exist between two people unless they are those people. I already miss it & my husband more than anything. Our story was a good one. And now it is done.”

Two days after hosting the final episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS, Stephen Colbert made one more surprise appearance — this time on a public access show in Monroe, Michigan.
Colbert guest-hosted an episode of Only in Monroe that aired at 11:35 p.m. on Friday (May 22), the night after his CBS farewell drew 6.74 million viewers. The Michigan public access show, hosted by Michelle Baumann and Kaye Lani Rae Rafko Wilson — Miss America 1988 — had previously welcomed Colbert in July 2015, when he interviewed Eminem just months before taking over The Late Show from David Letterman.
Colbert had foreshadowed the return during Thursday’s finale, calling the 2015 Only in Monroe episode “technically our first show… for an audience of 12 people,” and quipping: “Show business being what it is these days, that’s probably where you’ll see me next.”
Friday’s episode leaned heavily into Michigan local culture, with Jack White serving as volunteer musical director. Actor Jeff Daniels appeared to make the peanut butter, hand-crumbled Ruffles and Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce sandwich he had described during a Late Show appearance in March. Steve Buscemi appeared in a public service announcement for Buscemi’s Pizza in Monroe — a Michigan chain he has no connection to — to clarify exactly that.
“All I know is Buscemi’s exists. I exist. We have the same name. And that’s where any connection ends,” he said. Colbert also had a quick FaceTime chat with Detroit native Byron Allen, who has taken over the Late Show timeslot with back-to-back episodes of his syndicated Comics Unleashed. The regular hosts joined Colbert in drinking shots of Cain & Grain whiskey from the River Raisin Distillery in Manchester.
The episode closed with Colbert, White and Daniels destroying the set — described as a version no longer used by the show — and burning it in a flaming dumpster.
Eminem, born Marshall Mathers in nearby St. Joseph, Michigan, appeared via video to give the fire marshal all-clear for the blaze. Colbert had joked he wanted official approval before proceeding.
Colbert’s 11-year run at The Late Show concluded Thursday with a finale that drew 6.74 million viewers — among the strongest late-night farewell numbers in years. The episode included a performance from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, tributes from former presidents and celebrities, and a final monologue in which Colbert reflected on the state of American democracy.
Only in Monroe had hinted at Colbert’s return in a recent Instagram post, though the episode’s filming date was not disclosed.

KPop Demon Hunters marks its one-year anniversary in June, and the buzz over the hit Netflix film shows no signs of slowing down.
KPop Demon Hunters won two Oscars in March — for Best Animated Film and Best Original Song — and the animated musical has spawned countless merch releases, from T-shirts to trading cards. Now, fans can pick up an officially-licensed KPop Demon Hunters slime kit online.

Increditoyz GUI GUI Kpop Demon Hunters Scented Slime Kit
From the toys and collectibles brand, Increditoyz, the KPop Demon Hunters Scented Slime Kit features everything you need to create your own character-inspired slime, from a base and reusable mixing jar, to custom mix-in packs.
Each kit features colors, scents and mix-ins inspired by HUNTR/X members Rumi, Mira and Zoey, along with the supernatural tiger, Derpy. Rumi’s slime is purple-colored with pom poms and musical note sparkles; Mira’s slime is clear pink with bows and heart charms; Zoey’s slime is cupcake blue and smells like citrus; and Derpy gets a bright yellow slime with “blackberry burst” charms and scent.
This release also features a limited-edition “golden slime,” which is bright and shimmery and comes with mini pearlescent beads. Only 1,000 golden slime kits were released in total. Just like the blind box trend (which was a hit with Labubu characters last year), each KPop Demon Hunters slime pack is a blind reveal. That means you won’t know which kit is inside the box until you open it.
The KPop Demon Hunters Slime Kit is an officially-licensed release between Netflix and Increditoyz and it’s selling quickly online so we recommend adding to cart while it’s still in stock at Amazon. Similar unofficial slime sets have also popped up on sites like Etsy, made by crafty fans.
Just like the film, the slime trend shows no signs of slowing down either, with kids and fans of all ages lauding the sensory toy for helping with fidgeting, motor coordination, and for its stress relief and calming properties.

The finale of Stephen Colbert’s beloved late-night show wasn’t a cliffhanger, but a blockbuster, as Paul McCartney stopped by The Ed Sullivan Theater for an interview.
In doing so, the Beatles great completed the full circle. It was here, in the same glorious New York City building back on Feb. 9, 1964, when the legendary British band made their historic first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. When the screaming had subsided, the world had changed. The Fab Four’s U.S. TV debut shook America’s teenage population, gathering an estimated 73 million viewers, a record for its time and a wake-up call for pop culture.
McCartney, 83, is perhaps the most famous living pop star on earth. And the two-time Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee can still command screams wherever he goes, as was evident on his final appearance Thursday night, May 21 on The Late Show. How often does that still happen, Colbert asked his famous guest. “Often,” was the response. True story. Check out the proof below.
Colbert’s final broadcast of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert draws curtains on an 11-year run. CBS announced the cancelation in July 2025, citing financial losses. Many observers, however, aren’t buying it, with figures like Senator Elizabeth Warren claiming the axing was political censorship, coming just days after Colbert publicly criticized CBS’s parent company, Paramount, over its $16 million legal settlement with Trump, a moment when Paramount was on the brink of a merger deal that U.S. authorities could block.
“We’ve had so much fun in this theater, so many great segments,” Colbert remarked in his last, opening monologue. The gags, they flowed as usual. Once backstage, Elvis Presley used the bathroom and didn’t die, Colbert insisted. And those regular dry observations of current affairs and Trump’s administration, they were barbed, as expected.
Special occasions require special guests, and this final episode was no different as Bryan Cranston, Paul Rudd, Tim Meadows and others popped up for fun cameos, while an extraordinary line-up of special guest questioners did their bit, including Billy Crystal, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Josh Brolin, Martha Stewart, Mark Hamill, Ben Stiller, James Taylor and Robert De Niro.
At the top, Colbert reminded the audience that, despite the show disappearing from the airwaves, “we were lucky enough to be here for the last 11 years. You can’t take this for granted.” Watch his final monologue, the McCartney interview and his show-ending performance of “Jump Up/Hello Goodbye” with Elvis Costello and Jon Batiste below.

With the sanctioned Michael biopic racking up more than $600 million in global box office and sending the late King of Pop’s catalog surging up the charts, Netflix announced its own Michael Jackson project on Wednesday (May 20), the three-part documentary series Michael Jackson: The Verdict.
The series, which will premiere on June 3, looks at Jackson’s 2005 criminal trial on child molestation charges involving a teenage boy. “In 2003, Michael Jackson — arguably the most famous and beloved figure in pop culture of all time — was charged with multiple counts of child molestation, setting off a media firestorm and courtroom proceedings that captivated millions,” reads a description from the streamer. “His acquittal on all counts only further stoked public interest in the larger-than-life celebrity at the center of the trial, interest that continues to persist long after Jackson’s death in 2009.”
Jackson was charged with molesting 13-year-old cancer patient Gavin Arvizo at his Neverland Ranch estate in the trial, which came more than a decade after Jackson was first accused of child abuse in 1993; in the latter, Jackson also denied the allegations and settled with the accuser for a reported $23 million in a civil lawsuit. During the 2005 trial, the defense called a number of celebrity witnesses, including former child actor Macaulay Culkin, Chris Tucker, Jay Leno and George Lopez, to testify on Jackson’s behalf before the jury delivered a not-guilty verdict on June 13, 2005.
In revisiting the trial, The Verdict will focus on key players in the saga, including new interviews with jurors, eyewitnesses, media figures, accusers and the defenders who were in the courtroom, dissecting the case against Jackson from the perspectives of both the prosecution and the defense. Director Nick Green and executive producer Fiona Stourton said in a statement that 20 years after the trial in which Jackson — who vehemently denied the charges — was found not guilty, the controversy over the courtroom drama is still with us.
“No cameras were allowed in court, and so the public’s view of the facts at the time were filtered by commentators and presented piecemeal. It was time to take a forensic look at the trial as a whole,” they said. “Anyone interested in the Michael Jackson story should feel this documentary gives them a window into what was largely a closed event and a chance to feel closer to what happened.”
The trailer for the series opens with footage of L.A. police descending on Jackson’s Neverland home, with investigators walking through the residence asking if there are any “secret rooms.” It includes the infamous wide-eyed mugshot taken of Jackson following his arrest, testimonials from those who were there about listening to the accuser’s disturbing claims and footage of his die-hard fans supporting the singer outside the courtroom and celebrating the acquittal.
