These days, Nick Cannon‘s name is pretty much synonymous with fathering a dozen kids. And now, the entertainer will further cement that reputation by starring in a new docuseries capturing how he juggles his unorthodox life as a dad that’s coming soon to Netflix.

The streamer announced Wednesday (May 13) that the project — the title of which is still under wraps — will arrive this winter, offering “an intimate look” at Cannon’s “wildly unconventional life, as he raises 12 children and co-parents with six different moms,” according to a description.

“Prepare to meet the Cannon the world has yet to see: heartfelt, complicated, and genuinely committed to showing up for the people he loves — with his trademark comedy, of course,” it continues. “From million-dollar meetings to midnight diaper runs, the global entertainer navigates the complete chaos that can only come from his uniquely blended family, all while managing his booming career and headline-making drama.”

The Masked Singer host first became a dad in 2011, when he welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe with his superstar ex-wife, Mariah Carey. After separating from the Grammy winner in 2014, Cannon and podcaster Brittany Bell welcomed a son named Golden Sagon in 2017, followed by a daughter named Powerful Queen in 2020 and another son named Rise Messiah in 2022. He welcomed twins Zion and Zillion in 2021 with radio personality Abby De La Rosa, with whom he also shares 3-year-old daughter Beautiful Zeppelin. With Selling Sunset star Bre Tiesi, he shares 3-year-old son Legendary Love, and with LaNisha Cole, he welcomed daughter Onyx Ice in 2022.

Cannon is also Dad to a son with model Alyssa Scott named Zen, who died of brain cancer at just a few months old in 2021. The following year, he and Scott welcomed another child together, daughter Halo.

Because of the size of his brood, the Wild n’ Out comedian has endured his fair share of jokes at his expense over the past few years, both at the hands of friends in the industry and the general public. Though he’s always been a good sport about the teasing, Cannon has also always emphasized how much time and energy he puts into being a good father to all of his children, something he now gets to showcase in his Netflix series.

This past September, the Drumline star also acknowledged that his past trauma may have led to him pursuing a lifestyle that enabled him to have so many children. “It was more of being careless, being frivolous with my process, because I could do it, because I had the money, because I had the access to whoever and however I wanted to move,” he said on The Breakfast Club. “Opposed to doing a mature thing and saying, ‘Hey, well, it probably makes more sense to do this.’ And then, obviously, life happens as well. So it wasn’t like, ‘Well, I’m gonna go have 12 kids.’ It was more about, like, ‘Yo, I’mma just live life and have fun and whatever happens, happens, I can handle it.’”

Inaugural Entertainment announced Tuesday (May 12) that its Green Day-inspired comedy NIMRODS —named after the band’s 1997 Billboard 200 top 10 album Nimrod — will hit theaters this summer. Alongside the release date, Inaugural Entertainment also shared that it is partnering with with Legion M, the world’s first fan-owned entertainment company.

Directed by Lee Kirk, NIMRODS is a coming-of-age film that follows a group of three friends who embark on a cross-country road trip to Los Angeles after mistakenly believing that their band is opening up for Green Day at a New Year’s Eve show. The misadventures of the trio are inspired by Green Day’s years of living in a tour van.

The NIMRODS cast includes teen stars Mason Thames (The Black Phone; How to Train Your Dragon), Mckenna Grace (Scream 7; Regretting You), and comedian Fred Armisen. Rounding out the cast is Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, Ignacio Diaz- Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Bobby Lee and Sean Gunn.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool are slated to produce the film along with Ryan Kroft and Michael Rapino Live Nation Entertainment, Tim Perell for Process and Jonathan Daniel.

“Green Day wouldn’t exist without the fans, and we’re excited to give those fans the opportunity to own a stake in the film as we work with the incredibly talented teams at Inaugural, Live Nation and Green Day to bring it to audiences,” said Legion M co-founders Jeff Annison and Paul Scanlan in the press statement announcing the film.

NIMRODS originally premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival under its original title New Year’s Rev. The film is set to hit theaters on Aug. 14.

Stephen Colbert brought the band back together on Monday night (May 11), welcoming fellow late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver and Seth Meyers to The Late Show for a reunion ahead of the show’s May 21 series finale.

The gathering marked a significant moment for the group, who previously united in 2023 during the writers’ strike to launch a limited-run podcast called Strike Force Five, which raised money for their out-of-work staffs. In a similar spirit, the five hosts announced a new video episode dropping Wednesday, May 13, which will again benefit nonprofit World Central Kitchen, which provides meals for humanitarian, climate and community crises globally.

The conversation touched on the impending end of The Late Show, the future of late-night television, and the current political climate.

When Colbert asked the group whether they’d ever imagined having a job that the president of the United States would have strong feelings about, Kimmel interjected: “You know what’s even weirder? We’re doing a job that his wife has strong feelings about.” Meyers deadpanned: “Most of us have avoided that part.”

Colbert also put to the group a question he said he’d fielded repeatedly in recent months — whether they could make the case for late-night television to continue to exist. Kimmel pushed back on the premise entirely: “Why should you have to defend late night? Ryan Seacrest doesn’t get asked that question about Wheel of Fortune or whatever the hell he’s hosting.” Oliver added that he was “gonna be leaning forward” waiting for Seacrest’s answer.

The show closed with a round of “How Well Do You Know Your Fellow Late-Night Hosts?”, featuring questions written by Late Show writers. Colbert claimed the title of most-likely-to-have-made-out-with-the-most-guests, name-dropping Helen Mirren, Sally Field and Andrew Garfield among others. Fallon admitted to receiving “full tongue” from Martin Short during an SNL skit — “more than I’ve ever made out with anyone in high school.”

Colbert noted that all four of his guests had been hosting their respective shows longer than he had been at The Late Show, and that they would all continue after his departure. “You’re like the candy shell, I’m the nougat filling — and then somebody came along and just sucked it out,” he said. Kimmel offered a characteristically blunt eulogy: “It’s like when your young wife dies. It’s such a tragedy. It is ‘gone too soon.’”

CBS announced last July that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert would end after its current season in what the network described as “a purely financial” decision. The series finale airs May 21 on CBS at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT.

Hannah Harper has been named the Season 24 winner of American Idol. The Missouri country singer was crowned on Monday night (May 11) during the show’s live three-hour finale on ABC and Disney+, with Jordan McCullough finishing as runner-up and Keyla Richardson in third place.

The Top 3 opened the finale by singing judge Carrie Underwood’s “The Champion,” before each delivered a series of solo and duet performances throughout the evening.

Harper performed a duet with Lee Ann Womack on “I Hope You Dance” and closed out the competition with “String Cheese” — the original song that launched her journey on the show — before ultimately being crowned with a performance of “At the Cross (Love Ran Red)” by Chris Tomlin.

Harper went viral during her audition with “String Cheese,” an original song she wrote while dealing with postpartum depression following the birth of her youngest child. The mother of three from Willow Springs, Missouri grew up performing bluegrass and gospel music with her family band, The Harper Collective, and cited Dolly Parton, Shania Twain and Jo Dee Messina as key influences.

During her hometown visit last week, she was surprised onstage by Messina — whose song she had performed earlier in the competition. The city of Willow Springs officially declared May 6 Hannah Harper Day.

The star-studded finale featured guest mentor Alicia Keys, who performed alongside the top contestants. Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood all took the stage — the trio performing Richie’s 1986 hit “Deep River Woman” together — with Underwood also performing alongside Mötley Crüe.

Additional performances came from Brad Paisley, Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms, Cameron Whitcomb, Clay Aiken, En Vogue, Jason Mraz, Lee Ann Womack, Nelly, Shinedown and Tori Kelly.

Starting during FIFA World Cup 2026, an event that she co-wrote the tournament’s official song, Shakira goes on the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore) Tour throughout the United States, with nearly 20 dates starting Saturday, June 13 at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, CA. Effie White meets Effie White when Jennifer Hudson and Jenifer Lewis sing together.

Ahead of Lewis’ appearance on the Tuesday (May 12) episode of Hudson’s eponymous talk show, Billboard has an exclusive preview clip from The Jennifer Hudson Show of the two singers delivering audience members a powerful duet.

“Now Jenifer, the last time you were here we sang a little bit, and we had a good little time,” Hudson begins. Lewis interrupts Hudson to share that when she got out of college and moved to New York, she replaced Tony Award-winner Jennifer Holliday in the workshop production of Dreamgirls before the show transferred to Broadway.

“I’m telling y’all right now, I could sing my ‘a’ off back then,” Lewis says. “But nobody could sing like Jennifer Holliday. Of course, she took it to Broadway.”

Lewis continues, “It was Jenifer Lewis that developed the role of Effie. Jennifer Holliday took it Broadway. And Jennifer Hudson did the movie. That’s a lot of ‘Jennifer’ going on.”

Lewis then says to Hudson — who won an Oscar for playing Effie White in the 2006 film adaptation — that they will sing together and that she has a suggestion for what song they should perform. Naturally she picks a Dreamgirls song: “I Am Changing.”

“I want y’all to know, and this is true, I haven’t sung this song since I was 19 years old,” Lewis, who is now 69, says to the audience as the opening notes of the track begin to play and before Hudson begins the duet. The two powerhouse vocalists go back and forth with the song before standing up from their seats and holding onto one another as their voices blend together for the epic conclusion. Lewis and Hudson end their performance with a huge embrace and exchanges of “I love you.”

“I got to sing with Jenifer Lewis, yo!” Hudson excitedly exclaims to the audience. “I’m living a dream right now.”

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update took aim at Tucker Carlson on Saturday night (May 9), with the former Fox News host portrayed by featured player Jeremy Culhane raging about the Met Gala, slamming the Michael biopic and closing with his most offensive hot take yet.

Appearing alongside co-hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che, the sketch version of Carlson opened by unloading on the annual fashion fundraiser at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

“Let’s all prance around in our $100,000 clown outfits and watch the American empire crumble,” he said. “What are we doing? Come on.”

When Jost noted that Carlson clearly didn’t enjoy the event, the character replied sarcastically: “Oh no, I loved it. Because when I go to a museum, I don’t want to learn about history. No, I want to look at The Rock in a skirt. Do you smell what the Rock is cooking? Because I do — it’s gender confusion.” He then turned his attention to Madonna: “She named herself after the Virgin Mary. And you want to know my favorite thing about the mother of Jesus Christ? The big pirate ship on her head.” On Heidi Klum’s veiled statue look: “The left has finally gotten what they’ve always wanted. They put the Statue of Liberty in a burqa.”

Jost pointed out that Carlson actually lives in Maine, which sent the character into a conspiracy tangent about the state’s silent “E.” “What does the E even stand for? Oh, I know: ‘Euphoria.’ And no, I’m not talking about the feeling I get when I press one for English.”

Culhane-as-Carlson then turned to the Michael biopic — taking issue not with the film’s handling of Michael Jackson’s alleged crimes, but with something else entirely.

“The movie ends in 1988, so obviously they avoided something serious that needs to be acknowledged,” he said. “The part of Michael Jackson’s life no one wants to talk about anymore. The part when he was a white man. Sorry, kids, Michael Jackson doesn’t get to live a beautiful white life anymore. ‘Shamona’ — more like ‘shame on ya.’” The segment closed with Carlson’s take on A$AP Rocky’s Met Gala look: “He was on the red carpet wearing my least favorite color, African American.”

Saturday’s episode was hosted by Matt Damon, with Noah Kahan serving as musical guest. SNL Season 51 closes next week with Will Ferrell hosting and Paul McCartney as musical guest.
